Newly single again 64-year-old after leaving Colombian wife for younger Dominican woman
Meet Frank P., a normal blue-collar guy in the Welding industry who took the plunge in 2002 and traveled to Colombia for love, then left his Colombian wife of 15 years for a younger, more beautiful Dominican woman.
In the early 2000’s dating women outside ones own country was in the early stages of evolution. Only the courageous few endeavored in such a venture, such as Frank. After a few trips to Barranquilla in 2001, Frank met his wife, she was then a young beauty at 22 years of age and he was 44, and they married, had a daughter, and built a nice life together in Tampa, Florida. Fast forward to 2014, the wife hitting nearly 35, and although things were great for many years, restless Frank decided he wanted explore his options with yet another younger latin woman. Age interpretation in the U.S.A. is skewed in comparison to how age is viewed in Latin American countries. A 35 year old Latin woman is not necessarily considered “old” in the U.S.A, but in Colombia or Dominican Republic might be considered “past her prime”, whereas a man in his 50’s, 60’s, or even 70’s still commands attention and market demand. It’s unfair, yes, but true. It is a rare event to see a 65-year-old with a 25-year-old anywhere in the U.S; bystanders may even think it’s perverted. Police may think it’s illegal. But it’s a common sight in many Latin countries.
Frank tried a few of the larger global dating sites locally and had some challenges meeting women in Tampa, Florida, and at age 60, was not matching or getting noticed nearly as much as in his 40’s. And in no universe would he even remotely consider dating a woman closer to his age in her 50’s, let alone 40’s or even over 35. Having found our site HolaCupid.com, he decides to try our smaller more personalized service in the Latin Women Dating niche space.
We introduced Frank to about 20 women. He dated 3 of them for about a month and then settled on Verenice. She wasn’t my personal recommendation for him but for Frank, the primal desire was overwhelming and overran the logic to choose a more humble, less “high maintenance” type. With a decent stock portfolio, he didn’t care how much Verenice would cost in the long run.
The story seems to move along smoothly, they dated for nearly 3 years, things were slighly rocky, Frank refused to learn Spanish so he sent her to English school, she seemed to learn the basics quickly. During the first year it was like the Honeymoon phase, he traveled to the Dominican Republic nearly every month and stayed a few days, and it seemed they were building a foundation.
Then her car broke down, so guess who comes to the rescue? Frank wired her $6,000 to buy a nice used car, a Chevy Spark. Then came the complaints that her apartments was run down, didn’t have enough space for them when he visited. So they found a nicer apartment, in a new tower, there goes deposits, rent, and new furniture. Maybe $15,000 of new bills. Keep in mind, he’d been sending her $1,000 per month all along.
Then comes the whopper: “Frank, honey, I want to build a new salon, I have the client base, I could make more money for both of us.” Actually, this was one of the things that made Frank fall for her, she had her own little humble salon and steady clientele. This simple business had sustained her for years, but as I predicted with Verenice, her ambitions became dangerously large. Sure enough, on his next trip, they went shopping for a new commercial space for her salon, where she envisioned hiring nail specialists, massage therapy, and several more hair stylists to join her team. They found a building in the high rent district of Santo Domingo, maybe 4,000 square feet and lots of remodeling and improvements needed, signage, salon beauty stations, the works. This is where the wire transfers get out of hand, now we’re in the $50,000 range for the work being done, and she assures him of course that as a co-owner, he will make money on his investment and it will be great for both of them. Little did Frank know that her fame, publicity, and subsequent surgical enhancement ultimately doomed the relationship. Below is the before and after photos of Verenice, when they just started the new salon venture, and a year later after her income grew and she became a world traveler, and left Frank in the cold in early 2020.
The next chapter is available in the blog posts so take a look and see what happens next, because if anything, the first few months of 2020 something happened in the world that forced the shutdown of non-essential businesses.. we all know what that was.
